حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ. وَنَاهُ الْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، نَا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ، قَالَا: نَا سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي حَزْمٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
قَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هُوَ أَهْلُ التَّقْوَى وَأَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: أَنَا أَهْلُ التُّقَى فَلَا يُشْرَكُ بِي غَيْرِي، وَأَنَا أَهْلٌ لِمَنِ اتَّقَى وَلَمْ يُشْرِكْ بِي أَنْ أَغْفِرَ لَهُ - وَقَالَ أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ - وَمَنِ اتَّقَانِي فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ مَعِي شَرِيكًا فَأَنَا أَهْلٌ أَنْ أَغْفِرَ لَهُ.

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ recited to us: “He is worthy of piety and worthy of forgiveness” (74:56). He said: Your Lord, Blessed and Exalted, said: “I am worthy of piety, so no other should be associated with Me. And I am worthy to forgive the one who is pious and does not associate anything with Me.” Abū Qutaybah said in his hadith: “And whoever fears Me and does not set up with Me a partner, then I am worthy to forgive him.”
