أَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، أَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;
أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ خِضَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: لَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أَعُدَّ شَمَطَاتِهِ، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَخْضِبْ، وَلَكِنْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ، خَضَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ، وَخَضَبَ عُمَرُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ بَحْتًا
Translation

✧ He was asked about the dyeing [of hair] of the Messenger of God ﷺ. He said: 'If I wished, I could count his white hairs.' He mentioned that he did not dye, but that Abū Bakr and ʿUmar did. Abū Bakr dyed with henna and katam, and ʿUmar dyed with pure henna.
