✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ arrived in Madinah and established brotherhood between his companions. He paired ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf with Saʿd b. al-Rabīʿ. Saʿd said to him: 'O my brother, I am among the wealthiest of the people of Madinah, so take half of my wealth. I have two wives; I will divorce whichever you wish [for you to marry].' ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said to him: 'May God bless you in your family and wealth. Direct me to the market.' So he directed him to the market, and he bought and sold. He was absent from the Prophet ﷺ for some days. Then the Prophet ﷺ saw him with a trace of yellow on his garment, and said: 'Mahyam?' He said: 'I have married a woman.' He said: 'For how much?' He said: 'For the weight of a date stone in gold.' He said: 'May God bless you. Give a wedding feast, even with a sheep.'
