حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْقُرَشِيُّ، نَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، نَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;

✧ That the Prophet ﷺ visited a sick man who had become like a fledgling. He said, 'What did you used to supplicate? Or what did you used to ask your Lord for well-being?' He said, 'I used to say: O Allah, whatever You would punish me with in the Hereafter, hasten it for me in this world.' He said, 'Glory be to Allah! You will never be able to bear it—or you cannot bear it. Why did you not say: Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire?' The man said it, and he recovered.
