حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ: نَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ:

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أُهْدِيَتْ لَهُ حُلَّةُ حَرِيرٍ، فَأَرْسَلَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ، فَرَآهَا عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي لَا أَرْضَى لَكَ مَا أَكْرَهُ لِنَفْسِي، " فَأَمَرَنِي فَشَقَقْتُهَا بَيْنَ النِّسَاءِ ".

✧ A silk garment was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he sent it to me. He then saw it on me and said: “I am not pleased for you with what I dislike for myself.” So he commanded me, and I cut it up and divided it among the women.
