✧ The Prophet of Allah Ayyub ﷺ remained in his affliction for eighteen years. Near and far relatives shunned him except two men among his brothers who were among his most intimate companions. They would come to him morning and evening. One of them said to his companion: 'By Allah, you know he has committed a sin that no one in all the worlds has committed.' His companion said: 'What is that?' He said: 'For eighteen years he has been afflicted and Allah has not shown him mercy by removing what he has. When he saw his condition, the man could not keep it to himself and mentioned that to him. Ayyub said: 'I do not know what you are saying, except that Allah knows from me that I used to pass by two men disputing, and they would mention Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and I would return to my house and make atonement for them, disliking that they should mention Allah except in truth.' He used to go out to relieve himself, and when he finished, his wife would take him by the hand until he reached home. One day she was delayed for him, and it was revealed to Ayyub in his place: 'Strike the ground with your foot; this is a cool bathing place and a drink.' He said: 'She thought he was delayed, so she went looking for him. He came toward her, and Allah had removed the affliction he had, and he was the most handsome he had ever been. When she saw him, she said: 'May Allah bless you! Have you seen Allah's Prophet ﷺ, this afflicted one? By Allah, I have seen no one more like him than you when he was healthy.' He said: 'I am he.' He said: He had two threshing floors: one for wheat and one for barley. Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, sent two clouds. When one of them was over the wheat floor, it poured gold into it until it overflowed. The other poured silver into the barley floor until it overflowed.'
