✧ Ali ؓ addressed us and said: It has been mentioned to me that a group will come out toward the east. So he traveled until he reached them, and a man from the Kharijites said: Do not speak to them. A man from the companions of Ali ؓ said: Cut the bridges. He said: Then he killed twelve or thirteen, and Ali ؓ said: Look for the one with the breast-like protrusion for me. It was sought but not found, and he began to sweat on a winter day. Then he said: Bring me the gray mule of the Prophet ﷺ. He rode it until he came to a low-lying area of the ground and said: Turn over. The first thing that came out, he said: “By God, I did not lie nor was I lied to. Were I not afraid, I would tell you what God has decreed for you through his tongue, meaning his Prophet ﷺ. People in Yemen witnessed it.” They said: O Commander of the Faithful, how? He said: Their inclination was with us.
