✧ From the hadith of Salim from b. Umar

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، نَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، نَا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

إِذَا خُلِقَتِ النُّطْفَةُ فِي الرَّحِمِ، قَالَ مَلَكُ الْأَرْحَامِ: أَيْ رَبِّ، مَا أَكْتُبُ ؟ فَيَقْضِي إِلَيْهِ أَمْرَهُ، فَيَقُولُ: أَذَكَرٌ أَمْ أُنْثَى ؟ فَيَقْضِي إِلَيْهِ أَمْرَهُ، فَيَكْتُبُ، فَيَقْضِي مَا هُوَ لَاقٍ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ، حَتَّى النَّكْبَةَ يُنْكَبُهَا

Translation

✧ When the drop is created in the womb, the angel of the wombs says: O Lord, what shall I write? So He decrees to him his matter, and he says: Male or female? So He decrees to him his matter, and he writes, and He decrees what he will meet until he dies, even the calamity that will befall him.
