حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، وَحَاتِمُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، قَالَا: نَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، نَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ، فَقَالَ: يَتَقَدَّمُ الْإِمَامُ وَطَائِفَةٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَيُصَلِّي بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَتَكُونُ طَائِفَةٌ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْعَدُوِّ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا، فَإِذَا صَلَّى الَّذِينَ مَعَهُ رَكْعَةً جَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، وَقَامَ كُلُّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنَ الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ فَصَلَّتْ رَكْعَةً. وَأَحْسِبُهُ رَفَعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

Translation

✧ He was asked about the prayer of fear, and he said: 'The imam goes forward with a group of people and leads them in one rak'ah, while another group stands between him and the enemy and has not yet prayed. When those with him have prayed one rak'ah, the others come and he leads them in one rak'ah, then he says the salam. Then each of the two groups stands and prays one rak'ah.' I think he traced this back to the Prophet ﷺ.
