حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ:

إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاةٍ فَلَا يَدْرِي كَمْ صَلَّى ثَلَاثًا أَوْ أَرْبَعًا فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَةً وَيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ، فَإِنْ كَانَتِ الرَّكْعَةُ الَّتِي صَلَّى خَامِسَةً شَفَعَهَا بِهَاتَيْنِ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ، وَإِنْ كَانَتْ رَابِعَةً كَانَتَا تَرْغِيمًا لِلشَّيْطَانِ

✧ If one of you doubts in prayer and does not know how many he has prayed, three or four, let him pray one rak'ah and perform two prostrations while sitting before he greets (with salam). Then if the rak'ah he prayed was a fifth, he makes it even with these two prostrations, and if it was a fourth, they are a humiliation for Satan.
