✧ We were with Ibn ʿAbbās in the mosque, the Sacred Mosque, and something about divine decree was mentioned in his presence. He gestured with his hand—that was after he had lost his sight—and I said, “There is no one among the people.” He said, “I thought there was someone among them, and I would seize him by the neck. That is because I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: God did not send a prophet and then take him without making after him a period of slackness, and from that period Gehenna will be filled. They are the Qadarites.”
