حَدَّثَنَا السَّكَنُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ: نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ فَقَالُوا: إِنْ أَخْبَرَنَا بِمَا نَسْأَلُهُ عَنْهُ فَهُوَ نَبِيٌّ فَقَالُوا: مِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّ نُطْفَةَ الرَّجُلِ غَلِيظَةٌ وَنُطْفَةَ الْمَرْأَةِ صَفْرَاءُ رَقِيقَةٌ، فَأَيُّهُمَا غَلَبَ صَاحِبَتَهَا فَالشَّبَهُ لَهُ، وَإِنِ اجْتَمَعَا كَانَ مِنْهَا وَمِنْهُ. قَالُوا: صَدَقْتَ

✧ A group of Jews came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: “If he tells us about what we ask him, then he is a prophet.” They said: “Where does resemblance come from, O Muhammad?” He said: “The man’s seminal fluid is thick and white, and the woman’s is thin and yellow. Whichever prevails over the other, the resemblance belongs to it. If they combine, then it is from both.” They said: “You have spoken the truth.”
