وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ:
قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ حِينَ فَرَغَ مِنْ بَدْرٍ: عَلَيْكَ بِالْعِيرِ لَيْسَ دُونَهَا شَيْءٌ، فَنَادَاهُ الْعَبَّاسُ وَهُوَ أَسِيرٌ فِي وَثَاقِهِ إِنَّهُ لَا يَصْلُحُ لَكَ. قَالَ: لِمَ ؟ قَالَ: لِأَنَّ اللهَ قَدْ وَعَدَكَ إِحْدَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ، وَقَدْ أَعْطَاكَ مَا وَعَدَكَ
Translation
✧ It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, when he finished at Badr, why did you not take the caravan? There is nothing beyond it.’ Al-ʿAbbās called out to him while he was a captive in his bonds: ‘It would not be right for you.’ He said: ‘Why?’ He said: ‘Because Allah promised you one of the two parties, and He has given you what He promised.’
