✧ I saw my Lord in the most beautiful form. He said: O Muhammad. I said: At Your service, my Lord, and at Your command. He said: About what do the highest assembly dispute? I said: My Lord, I do not know. He said: He placed His hand between my shoulders and I felt its coolness between my breasts, and I learned what is between the East and the West. He said: O Muhammad. I said: At Your service, my Lord, and at Your command. He said: About what do the highest assembly dispute? I said: My Lord, about expiations, walking on foot to congregational prayers, performing ablution thoroughly in disliked circumstances, and waiting for the next prayer after the prayer, until the prayers. Whoever maintains them lives in goodness and dies in goodness, and his sins become as on the day his mother gave birth to him.

machine translationThere is disagreement about it on the authority of Qatādah. Yūsuf b. ʿAṭiyyah al-Ṣaffār narrated it from Qatādah from Anas, and he erred in it. Hishām narrated it from Qatādah from Abū Qilābah from Khālid b. al-Lajlāj from Ibn ʿAbbās, and he erred in saying Ibn ʿAbbās. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) version is that Khālid b. al-Lajlāj narrated it from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿĀʾish, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿĀʾish did not hear it from the Prophet ﷺ; rather he narrated from Mālik b. Yukhāmir from Muʿādh b. Jabal.
