حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، قَالَ: نَا خَطَّابُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَطُوفُ فِي النَّخْلِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَقُولُونَ: فِيهَا صَاعٌ وَفِيهَا وَسْقٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: فِيهَا كَذَا وَكَذَا، قَالُوا: صَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ: إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ فَمَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ عَنِ اللهِ فَهُوَ حَقٌّ، وَمَا قُلْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ قِبَلِ نَفْسِي فَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أُصِيبُ وَأُخْطِئُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was walking among the palm trees in Madinah, and people began saying: 'There is a sa' in it, and there is a wasq in it.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is such and such in it.' They said: 'Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I am only a human being. Whatever I tell you from Allah is the truth, but whatever I say on my own, I am only a human being; I may be right and I may be wrong.'
