✧ The greatest regrets of the children of Adam in this world are three: A man who has land that is irrigated and he has a water-lifting device with which he irrigates his land. When it became strong and produced its fruit, his water-lifting device died, so he feels regret over his device which he knows he will not find its like, and he feels regret over the fruit of his land that it will spoil before he can find a solution. And a man who has a swift horse and he meets a group of disbelievers. When they drew near to one another, the enemies of Allah were defeated, and the man sped ahead on his horse, so he feels regret that he will not find its like, and he feels regret over the victory that he had been close to attaining but missed. And a man who has a wife whose appearance and religion he is pleased with, and she gives birth to a boy, and she dies in her postpartum bleeding, so he feels regret over his wife, thinking that he will never find her like, and he feels regret over his child, fearing his loss before he finds someone to nurse him. These are the greatest of those regrets.
