حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السَّكَنِ، قَالَ: نَا حَبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: نَا صُبَيْحٌ أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ قَالَ:

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ: " لَوْ أَنَّ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ لَابْتَغَى إِلَيْهِ ثَانِيًا، وَلَوْ أُعْطِيَ ثَانِيًا لَابْتَغَى إِلَيْهِ ثَالِثًا، وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ، وَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ

✧ I heard the Prophet ﷺ recite in prayer: "If the son of Adam had a valley of gold, he would desire a second; if he were given a second, he would desire a third; nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust, and Allah turns in mercy to whoever repents."
