✧ When Salman al-Farisi came to Madinah, he brought a table to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with fresh dates on it. He said to him: "What is this, O Salman?" He said: "It is charity I have given to you and your companions." He said: "We do not eat charity." The next day he brought something similar and placed it before him, and he said: "O Salman, what is this?" He said: "It is a gift." He said: "Eat," and he ate. He looked at the seal on his back. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ purchased him for such-and-such dirhams from some Jews, on condition that he plant such-and-such date palms for them, and work until they bear fruit. He said: So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ planted the date palms except for one palm that someone else planted, and the palms bore fruit that year except for the palm that someone else planted. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Who planted it?" They said: "So-and-so." He uprooted it and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ planted it, and it bore fruit that same year.
