حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: أَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، قَالَ: نَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ قَالَ:
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَأَقْبَلَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ ؓ عَلَيْهِمَا قَمِيصَانِ يَعْثُرَانِ، وَيَقُومَانِ فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمِنْبَرِ فَأَخَذَهُمَا فَوَضَعَهُمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: صَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ إِنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering a sermon when al-Hasan and al-Husayn ؓ came forward wearing two shirts, stumbling and getting up. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ descended from the pulpit, took them, and placed them in front of him. Then he said: "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth: 'Your wealth and your children are only a trial.'"
