حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: نَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ؓ قَالَ

كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَذُكِرَ الْجُدُودُ، فَقِيلَ: جَدُّ بَنِي فُلَانٍ فِي الْإِبِلِ، وَجَدُّ بَنِي فُلَانٍ أَوْ جَدُّ فُلَانٍ فِي الْغَنَمِ، فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى إِذَا صَلَّى وَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، قَالَ: " اللَّهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ

Translation

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when 'judud' (good fortunes) were mentioned. It was said: 'The fortune of Banu so-and-so is in camels, and the fortune of Banu so-and-so—or the fortune of so-and-so—is in sheep.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent until he prayed and raised his head from bowing, then he said: 'O Allah, there is no withholder for what You give, and no giver for what You withhold, and no fortune of a fortunate person avails him against You.'
