✧ The Prophet of Allah ﷺ emphasized the gravity of the matter of asking. He said: "When the Day of Resurrection comes, the people of the pre-Islamic ignorance will come carrying their idols on their backs. Their Lord, Blessed and Exalted, will ask them, and they will say: 'Our Lord, You did not send us a messenger, and no command from You came to us. Had You sent us a messenger, we would have been the most obedient of Your servants.' Their Lord will say to them: 'If I command you something, will you obey Me?' They will say: 'Yes.' So He will command them to head toward Hell and enter it. They will set off until, when they draw near to it, they perceive its raging and roaring, so they return to their Lord and say: 'Our Lord, bring us out of it or save us from it.' He will say to them: 'Did you not claim that if I command you something, you would obey Me?' Then He will take their covenant on that and say: 'Head toward it and enter it.' They will set off until, when they see it, they become terrified and return, saying: 'Our Lord, we are terrified of it and cannot enter it.' He will say: 'Enter it in a state of humiliation.'" Then the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: "Had they entered it the first time, it would have been coolness and peace for them."
