حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ: نَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ؓ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ: أَيُّ مَسْجِدٍ وُضِعَ أَوَّلًا ؟ قَالَ: " الْمَسْجِدُ الْحَرَامُ، ثُمَّ الْمَسْجِدُ الْأَقْصَى " قُلْتُ: كَمْ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمَا قَالَ: " أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فَحَيْثُمَا أَدْرَكَتْكَ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلِّ، فَثَمَّ مَسْجِدٌ

Translation

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, which mosque was placed first? He said: The Sacred Mosque, then the Aqsa Mosque. I said: How much was between them? He said: Forty years. So wherever the prayer overtakes you, pray, for that is a mosque.
