وَأَمَّا حَدِيثُ الْأَعْمَشِ، فَحَدَّثَنَا بِهِ، عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ؓ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَيْثُ وَجَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ، أَتَدْرِي أَيْنَ تَذْهَبُ الشَّمْسُ ؟ قُلْتُ: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ: " فَإِنَّهَا تَذْهَبُ حَتَّى تَسْجُدَ فَتَسْتَأْذِنَ رَبَّهَا فِي الرُّجُوعِ فَيُؤْذَنُ لَهَا، وَكَأَنَّهَا قَدْ قِيلَ لَهَا ارْجِعِي مِنْ حَيْثُ جِئْتِ فَتَرْجِعُ إِلَى مَغْرِبِهَا وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَهَا
Translation

✧ I was with the Prophet ﷺ in the mosque when the sun set. He said: O Abu Dharr, do you know where the sun goes? I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: It goes until it prostrates and asks its Lord permission to return, and permission is granted to it. It is as if it is told: Return from where you came, so it returns to its west. That is His saying: And the sun runs to a fixed resting place.
