✧ "What will you do when hardship reaches you such that a man is unable to get up to his bed from exhaustion?" He said: I said: God and His Messenger know best. He said: "Abstain." He said: "O Abu Dharr, what will you do when death becomes so widespread that a house is sold for a slave?" He said: I said to Abu ʿImran: What is the house? He said: The grave. I said: God and His Messenger know best. He said: "Then be patient." He said: "O Abu Dharr, I think he said: What will you do when killing becomes so widespread that the stones of the olive grove are submerged in blood?" He said: I said: God and His Messenger know best. He said: "Stay in your house." He said: I said: What if I am not left alone? He said: "Join those whom you are from." I said: Should I carry a weapon with me? He said: "Then you have shared with them." He said: "If you fear that the flash of the sword will dazzle you, then take the edge of your garment and throw it over your face; he will bear his sin and your sin."
