وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ، بِنَحْوِهِ قَالَ:

وَسُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْإِبِلِ ؟ فَقَالَ: مَا لَكَ وَلَهَا مَعَهَا حِذَاؤُهَا وَسِقَاؤُهَا تَرِدُ الْمَاءَ وَتَأْكُلُ الشَّجَرَ وَسُئِلَ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْغَنَمِ فَقَالَ: لَكَ أَوْ لِأَخِيكَ أَوْ لِلذِّئْبِ

Translation

✧ And the Prophet ﷺ was asked about a stray camel. He said: "What concern is it of yours? It has its own shoes and its own water-skin; it can come to water and eat trees." And he was asked about a stray sheep. He said: "It is for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf."
