أَخْبَرَنَا السَّرِيُّ بْنُ يَحْيَى ابْنُ أَخِي هَنَّادٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْيَعْفُورِ

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى، قَالَ: شَهِدْتُهُ وَكَبَّرَ عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ أَرْبَعًا، ثُمَّ قَامَ سَاعَةً يَعْنِي يَدْعُو، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " كُنْتُمْ تَرَوْنَ أَنِّي كُنْتُ مُكَبِّرًا خَمْسًا " قَالُوا: لَا، قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُكَبِّرُ أَرْبَعًا.

✧ From Abdullah b. Abi Awfa, who said: I witnessed him, and he said the takbir over a funeral bier four times, then stood for a while, meaning supplicating, then said: "Did you think that I would say the takbir five times?" They said: No. He said: "The Messenger of God ﷺ used to say the takbir four times."
