حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ؓ قَالَ:

سَأَلَتْ أُمِّي أَبِي أَنْ يَهَبَ لِي هِبَةً فَوَهَبَهَا لِي، فَقَالَتْ: لَا أَرْضَى حَتَّى تُشْهِدَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَأَخَذَ أَبِي بِيَدِي وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ، فَأَتَى بِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: أُمُّ هَذَا ابْنَةُ رَوَاحَةَ، أَرَادَتْنِي عَلَى هِبَةٍ أَهَبُهَا لَهُ، وَقَدْ وَهَبْتُهَا لَهُ، فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ: " أَلَيْسَ لَكَ ابْنٌ غَيْرُ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " فَوَهَبْتَ لَهُ مِثْلَ مَا وَهَبْتَ لِهَذَا ؟ " قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: فَلَا تُشْهِدْنِي إِذًا فَإِنِّي لَا أَشْهَدُ عَلَى جَوْرٍ

Translation

✧ My mother asked my father to give me a gift, so he gave it to me. She said: I will not be satisfied until you have the Prophet ﷺ witness it. So my father took me by the hand while I was a boy and brought me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: The mother of this boy, the daughter of Rawaha, asked me to give him a gift, and I have given it to him, so I call upon you to witness that. He ﷺ said: "Do you have a son other than this one?" He said: Yes. He ﷺ said: "Have you given him the like of what you gave this one?" He said: No. He ﷺ said: "Then do not call me as a witness, for I do not bear witness to injustice."
