✧ The first hadith of Abu Musa

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُخَوَّلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ؓ قَالَ:

بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، تَبْعَثُنِي إِلَى الْيَمَنِ وَبِهَا أَشْرِبَةُ الْبِتْعِ وَالْمِزْرِ، فَقَالَ: مَا أَدْرِي مَا هَذِهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ، أُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْكَ كُلَّ مُسْكِرٍ.

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ sent me to Yemen. I said: 'O Messenger of God, you send me to Yemen where there are drinks of bit' and mizr.' He said: 'I do not know what these names are, but I forbid you every intoxicant.'
