✧ The first hadith of Abu Musa

أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَرَبِيٍّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنْ قَسَامَةَ بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

" مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ مَثَلُ الْأُتْرُنْجَةِ، طَيِّبٌ طَعْمُهَا طَيِّبٌ رِيحُهَا، وَمَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ الَّذِي لَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ، مَثَلُ التَّمْرَةِ طَيِّبٌ طَعْمُهَا وَلَا رِيحَ لَهَا، وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ، مَثَلُ الرَّيْحَانَةِ طَيِّبٌ رِيحُهَا طَعْمُهَا مُرٌّ، وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ الَّذِي لَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ مَثَلُ الْحَنْظَلَةِ، مُرٌّ طَعْمُهَا خَبِيثٌ رِيحُهَا

✧ The parable of the believer who recites the Qur'an is that of a citron: its taste is good and its fragrance is good. The parable of the believer who does not recite the Qur'an is that of a date: its taste is good but it has no fragrance. The parable of the hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is that of sweet basil: its fragrance is good but its taste is bitter. The parable of the hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'an is that of the colocynth: its taste is bitter and its fragrance is foul.
