✧ The first hadith of Abu Musa

حَدَّثَنَا خَلَّادُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنْ قَسَامَةَ بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

" مَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ الصَّالِحِ مَثَلُ الْعَطَّارِ، إِمَّا أَنْ يُحْذِيَكَ مِنْ عِطْرِهِ، أَوْ يُصِيبَكَ مِنْ رِيحِهِ، وَمَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ السَّوْءِ مَثَلُ الْقَيْنِ، إِمَّا أَنْ يُحْرِقَ ثَوْبَكَ، وَإِمَّا أَنْ يُنْتِنَكَ، أَوْ تُؤْذِيَكَ رَائِحَتُهُ

✧ The example of the righteous companion is that of the perfume seller: either he will give you some of his perfume, or some of its fragrance will reach you. And the example of the bad companion is that of the blacksmith: either he will burn your garment, or make you stink, or his odor will harm you.
