3005 3004 - أَخْبَرَنَا بِهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْقُطَعِيُّ قَالَ:
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، عَنِ الْمَسْعُودِيِّ، فَاتَّفَقُوا هَؤُلَاءِ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ. وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ: عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى فَأَخْطَأَ فِيهِ وَكَانَ سَيِّئَ الْحِفْظِ وَإِنَّمَا ذَكَرْنَا هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثَ لِنُبَيِّنَ عِلَّةَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ
Translation

✧ Umar b. Ali al-Muqaddami reported to us, from al-Mas'udi, and all of these agreed: from Qays b. Muslim, from Tariq b. Shihab, from Abd Allah b. Mas'ud. And Muhammad b. Jabir said: from Qays b. Muslim, from Tariq b. Shihab, from Abu Musa, and he erred in it, and he was of poor memory. We mention these hadiths only to clarify the defect of this hadith.

قال أبي إنما أسند هذا الحديث المسعودي والربيع بن الركين وأبو وكيع وأما الثوري فإنه لا يسنده إلا الفريابي ولا أظن الثوري سمعه من قيس أراه مدلس
machine translationMy father said: Only al-Masʿūdī, al-Rabīʿ b. al-Rakīn and Abū Wakīʿ transmitted this hadith with a connected chain (musnad). As for al-Thawrī, only al-Firyābī transmits it from him with a connected chain. I do not think al-Thawrī heard it from Qays; I consider it to be a concealed transmission (mudallas).
