حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ، عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَمٍ، قَالَ:
كُنَّا مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ، فَقَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْعَاصِي: " أَيُّكُمْ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ ؟ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: أَنَا، فَصَلَّى بِهَؤُلَاءِ رَكْعَةً، وَبِهَؤُلَاءِ رَكْعَةً، وَلَمْ يَقْضُوا يَعْنِي لَمْ يَقْضِ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ كَأَنَّهُمُ اجْتَزَوْا بِرَكْعَةٍ رَكْعَةٍ
Translation

✧ We were with Hudhayfah in Tabaristan, and Sa'id b. al-'As said: 'Which of you prayed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' Hudhayfah said: 'I did.' So he led these in one rak'ah and these in one rak'ah, and they did not make up—meaning neither of the two groups made up—as if they were satisfied with one rak'ah each.
