✧ A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection who had said to his family: When I die, burn me, then crush me, then face me toward a violent wind and scatter me. Then Allah will gather him on the Day of Resurrection and say to him: Why did you do that? He will say: From fear of You. He said: So He will forgive him.

machine translationHe was asked about the hadith of Ribʿī from Abū Masʿūd, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A man met his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, and He said: What did you do? He said: I did no good except that I used to lend to people, so I would give respite to the well-off and overlook the one in difficulty. So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: Overlook his faults." And "A man was extravagant (in sin) and said at the time of his death: When I die, burn me..." - the hadith. He said: It is narrated by Abū Mālik al-Ashjaʿī, Nuʿaym b. Abī Hind and ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr, from Ribʿī, from Ḥudhayfah and Abū Masʿūd. Abū Khālid al-Aḥmar made an error (wahima) in it: he narrated it from Abū Mālik al-Ashjaʿī, from Ribʿī, from Ḥudhayfah, and said in it: ʿUqbah b. ʿĀmir al-Juhanī and Abū Masʿūd al-Anṣārī said: "This is how we heard it from the Prophet ﷺ." The correct version is: ʿUqbah b. ʿAmr Abū Masʿūd said.
