حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ؓ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:
" مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَغْزُو فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَيَسْأَلُ اللهَ الشَّهَادَةَ يَعْلَمُ اللهُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَخْلَصَ الدُّعَاءَ، ثُمَّ يَمُوتُ إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُ الشَّهِيدِ، وَمَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ تَخْرُجُ لَهُ شَيْبَةٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ إِلَّا كَانَتْ لَهُ نُورًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
Translation

✧ There is no man who goes out in the path of Allah and asks Allah for martyrdom, while Allah knows that he has sincerely made the supplication, and then dies, except that he has the reward of a martyr. And there is no man for whom a grey hair appears in the path of Allah except that it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection.
