✧ I was hiding behind the wall of the Ka'bah when two men with large bellies and little understanding of religion came. One of them said to his companion: 'Do you think Allah hears what we say?' The other replied: 'If we raise our voices, He hears; if we lower them, He does not hear.' The other said to him: 'If He hears when we raise our voices, then He hears when we lower them.' I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and this verse was revealed: 'And you were not hiding yourselves, lest your hearing, your sight, and your skins should testify against you' up to His saying: 'But you thought that Allah did not know much of what you do.'
