✧ I was in my house in Kufah when I heard at the door of the house: 'Peace be upon you, may I enter?' I said: 'And upon you be peace, enter.' When he entered, it was 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud. I said: 'O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, what hour of visiting is this?' That was during midday. He said: 'The day grew long for me, and I remembered someone to converse with.' He began to narrate to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I narrated to him. Then he began to narrate to me, saying: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "There will be a tribulation in which the one sleeping is better than the one lying down, and the one lying down is better than the one walking, and the one walking is better than the one riding, and the one riding is better than the one running. All of its slain will be in the Fire." He said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, when is that time?' He said: 'That is the days of al-harj.' I said: 'What are the days of al-harj?' He said: 'When a man does not trust his companion.' I said: 'What do you command me to do if I live to see that time?' He said: 'Stay in your house.' I said: 'What if my house is entered upon me?' He said: 'Then enter your mosque, and put your hand like this' – and he grasped his right hand on his wrist – 'and the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: "until you are killed upon that."'
