✧ The last man to enter Paradise will walk at times, stumble at times, and be touched by the Fire at times. When he passes beyond it, he will turn to it and say: 'Blessed is the One who saved me from you. Allah has given me something He has not given anyone from the first and the last.' He said: Then Allah will raise up for him a tree, or a tree will be raised up for him, and he will say: 'O my Lord, bring me near to this tree so that I may shade myself under its shade and drink from its water.' He will say: 'O son of Adam, perhaps if I give it to you, you will ask Me for something else.' He said: He will say: 'No, my Lord.' He said: He will say: And He makes him promise not to ask for anything else. He said: And his Lord excuses him, because he sees what he cannot bear to be without. So He brings him near to it, and he shades himself under its shade and drinks from its water. Then a tree better than the first will be raised up for him, and he will say: 'Bring me near to this tree so that I may drink from its water and shade myself under its shade; I will not ask You for anything else.' He will say: 'O son of Adam, did you not promise Me not to ask Me for anything else?' And his Lord excuses him, because he sees what he cannot bear to be without. He will say: 'Perhaps if I bring you near to it, you will ask Me for something else.' He will say: 'No, this one, this one.' So He brings him near to it, and he shades himself under its shade and drinks from its water. Then a tree at the gate of Paradise, better than the first two, will be raised up for him, and he will say: 'O my Lord, bring me near to this tree so that I may shade myself under its shade and drink from its water; I will not ask You for anything else.' He will say: 'O son of Adam, did you not promise Me not to ask Me for anything else?' He will say: 'Yes, this one; I will not ask You for anything else.' And his Lord excuses him, because he sees what he cannot bear to be without. So He brings him near to it. When he draws near to it, he hears the voices of the people of Paradise and says: 'O my Lord, admit me into it.' He will say: 'O son of Adam, what will satisfy you from Me? If I gave you the world and the like of it with it.' He will say: 'O my Lord, are You mocking me while You are the Lord of the worlds?' 'Abdullah laughed and said: 'Will you not ask me why I laughed?' They said: 'Why did you laugh?' He said: 'This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed, and he said: "Will you not ask me why I laughed?" They said: "Why did you laugh?" He said: "From the laughter of the Lord of the worlds when he said: 'Are You mocking me while You are the Lord of the worlds?' He said: 'I do not mock you, but I am able to do whatever I will.'"' And we do not know of Anas b. Malik narrating from Ibn Mas'ud, from the Prophet ﷺ, except this hadith.
