حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، قَالَا: نَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:
أَسْرَعُ النَّاسِ هَلَاكًا قَوْمُكِ. قُلْتُ: وَلِمَ ؟ جَعَلَنِي اللهُ فِدَاكَ. قَالَ: إِنَّ هَذَا الْحَيَّ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ تَسْتَحْلِيهِمُ الْمَنَايَا وَتَنْفِسُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِمْ ". قُلْتُ: فَمَا بَقَاءُ النَّاسِ بَعْدَهُمْ ؟ قَالَ: هُمْ صُلْبُ النَّاسِ، فَإِذَا هَلَكُوا هَلَكَ النَّاسُ

✧ The quickest of people to perish are your people. I said: Why, may God make me your ransom? He said: This clan of Quraysh — death finds them sweet, and people envy them. I said: What then is the survival of people after them? He said: They are the backbone of humanity; when they perish, humanity perishes.
