حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، قَالَ: نَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ:

أَنَّ الْيَهُودَ مَرَّتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا: السَّامُ. فَقَالَ: " عَلَيْكُمْ ". قُلْتُ: بَلْ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّامُ وَاللَّعْنَةُ. قَالَ: يَا عَائِشَةُ، أَمَا سَمِعْتِينِي رَدَدْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ ؟ إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ

Translation

✧ The Jews passed by the Messenger of God ﷺ and said, “Al-sam (death be upon you).” He said, “And upon you.” I said, “Rather upon you be death and the curse.” He said, “O Aishah, did you not hear me reply to them? God loves gentleness.”
