✧ A man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ came and sat before the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have slaves who betray me, lie to me, and disobey me. I insult them and beat them. How will I be recompensed regarding them? He said: Your punishment and their sins will be weighed. If your punishment was less than their sins, you will have a reward. If your punishment was equal to their sins, then it is even, nothing for you or against you. If your punishment was more severe than their sins, then they will be avenged from you on the Day of Resurrection. The man began to wail and weep before the Prophet ﷺ. He said: What is the matter with you? Do you not recite the Book of Allah: 'And We shall set up the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection' [Quran 21:47]? The man said: O Messenger of Allah, then they are free.
