machine translationThere is disagreement about whether it is raised (marfūʿ) from Ibn Sīrīn. Yūnus b. ʿUbayd and Hishām b. Ḥassān narrated it from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah, as raised (marfūʿ); this was stated by Isḥāq b. Shāhīn, who is Ibn Abī ʿImrān, from Hushaym, from the two of them. ʿAlī b. ʿĀṣim likewise narrated it from Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ and Hishām as raised (marfūʿ). Ḥammād b. Zayd narrated it from Ayyūb and Hishām as stopped (mawqūf). Ḥammād b. Salamah differed from him, and there is disagreement about what was narrated from him: Muḥammad b. Musʿab al-Qarqsānī narrated it from Ḥammād b. Salamah, from Ayyūb, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, as raised (marfūʿ). The companions of Ḥammād b. Salamah differed from him: they narrated it from Ḥammād, from Ayyūb, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah, also as raised (marfūʿ). Salm b. Abī al-Dhayyāl made it stopped (mawqūf), from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah. Its being raised (marfūʿ) is sound (ṣaḥīḥ). You have come to know Ibn Sīrīn's habit, that he sometimes held back from raising a hadith out of caution.
