I was at the funeral of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Samurah. Ziyād and some men from his clients began walking backwards in front of the bier, saying: "Slowly, slowly, may God bless you." He said: Abū Bakrah caught up with them in one of the lanes of al-Mirbad, drove his mule at them and lashed at them with the whip, and said: "Clear the way! By the One who honoured the face of Abū al-Qāsim ﷺ, I have seen us in the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and we would almost run with it at a trot."

machine translationThis hadith was narrated by Hushaym, Wakīʿ, Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī and Saʿdān b. Yaḥyā, from ʿUyaynah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from his father. In it he said: "Abū Bakrah rushed at them", in place of ʿUthmān b. Abī al-ʿĀṣ, and this is more correct (aṣaḥḥ).
