  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationI find no defect in it except the tadlīs (concealment) of Ibn Jurayj. If an explicit statement of hearing (taṣrīḥ bi-l-samāʿ) from him is found, then in my assessment there is nothing preventing a ruling that it is sound (ṣaḥīḥ).

  • ʿAbd al-ʿAẓīm al-Mudhirī

machine translationIt was narrated by ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith al-Makhzūmī, Ḥajjāj, Abū ʿĀṣim, Hishām b. Sulaymān and Mūsā b. Ṭāriq, from Ibn Jurayj, from Ziyād b. Saʿd, from al-Zuhrī, from Anas, that he saw a gold ring on the hand of the Prophet ﷺ, so the people made rings for themselves, and the Prophet ﷺ threw it away and said: "I will never wear it." This is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version, and it is the sound (ṣaḥīḥ) one from Ibn Jurayj.

machine translationAbū Dāwūd, al-Nasāʾī and al-Bayhaqī declared this hadith weak (ḍaʿīf), but al-Tirmidhī disagreed with them and declared it sound (ṣaḥīḥ). He said in al-Khulāṣah: "That is rejected against him." End of the statement of the one who declared it weak.
