The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw phlegm on the qiblah wall and disliked it, until that was recognized in his face, so he scraped it off. Then he said: "Indeed, one of you, or indeed a person, when he stands in his prayer, is only conversing privately with his Lord - or he said: his Lord is between him and the qiblah -, so let him spit to his left or beneath his foot." Then he took the edge of his garment and spat in it, and folded one part of it over the other, then said: "Or let him do like this."
