( وَأَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو بَكْرٍ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْعِرَاقِيُّ، ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ مَعْبَدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ ؓ كَانَ يَقُولُ:

إِذَا مَاتَ الْمُكَاتَبُ وَتَرَكَ وَفَاءً يُعْطَى مَوَالِيهِ مَالَهُمْ وَمَا بَقِيَ كَانَ لِوَرَثَتِهِ وَكَانَ عُمَرُ ؓ يَقُولُ هُوَ عَبْدٌ مَا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ دِرْهَمٌ
