أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُؤَمَّلِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْفَرَّاءُ، أَنْبَأَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَثَّامٍ عَنِ الْأَصْمَعِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ سَلْمُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ:

الدُّنْيَا الْعَافِيَةُ، وَالشَّبَابُ الصِّحَّةُ، وَالْمُرُوءَةُ الصَّبْرُ عَلَى الرِّجَالِ قَالَ: فَسَأَلْتُ مَا الصَّبْرُ عَلَى الرِّجَالِ ؟ فَوَصَفَ الْمُدَارَاةَ
