( أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ الْعَدْلُ بِبَغْدَادَ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ السَّمَّاكِ، ثَنَا حَنْبَلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ:
خَرَجَ شُرَيْحٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ زِيَادٍ، فَلَقِيَهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: كَبِرَتْ سِنُّكَ، وَرَقَّ عَظْمُكَ، وَارْتَشَى ابْنُكَ. قَالَ: فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ: مَنْ قَالَ لَكَ ؟ قَالَ: لَا أَعْرِفُهُ فَأَعْفِنِي. قَالَ: لَا أُعْفِيكَ حَتَّى تُشِيرَ عَلَيَّ بِرَجُلٍ. فَأَشَارَ عَلَيْهِ بِأَبِي بُرْدَةَ، فَوَلَّاهُ الْقَضَاءَ
