"O Aktham b. al-Jawn, go out on military expeditions with people other than your own tribe; your character will improve and you will be honored by your companions. O Aktham b. al-Jawn, the best companions number four, the best reconnaissance parties number forty, the best detachments number four hundred, and the best armies number four thousand. Twelve thousand will never be defeated for want of numbers. O Aktham b. al-Jawn, do not accompany the two hundred."
