وَعَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَزْمٍ

أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ رَوَاحَةَ قَالَ حِينَ أَخَذَ الرَّايَةَ يَوْمَئِذٍ: أَقْسَمْتُ يَا نَفْسِ لَتَنْزِلِنَّهْ طَائِعَةً أَوْ لَتُكْرَهِنَّهْ إِنْ أَجْلَبَ النَّاسُ وَشَدُّوا الرَّنَّهْ مَا لِي أَرَاكِ تَكْرَهِينَ الْجَنَّهْ قَدْ طَالَمَا قَدْ كُنْتِ مُطْمَئِنَّهْ هَلْ أَنْتِ إِلَّا نُطْفَةٌ فِي شَنَّهْ قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: وَقَالَ أَيْضًا: يَا نَفْسِ إِلَّا تُقْتَلِي تَمُوتِي هَذَا حِمَامُ الْمَوْتِ قَدْ صَلِيتِ وَمَا تَمَنَّيْتِ فَقَدْ أُعْطِيتِ إِنْ تَفْعَلِي فِعْلَهُمَا هُدِيتِ وَإِنْ تَأَخَّرْتِ فَقَدْ شَقِيتِ يُرِيدُ جَعْفَرًا وَزَيْدًا ؓ قَالَ: ثُمَّ أَخَذَ سَيْفَهُ، فَتَقَدَّمَ، فَقَاتَلَ حَتَّى قُتِلَ
