( أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ هُوَ ابْنُ يَزِيدَ الْهُذَلِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ السَّائِبَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ يَقُولُ:
لَمَّا كَانَتِ الرَّمَادَةُ أَصَابَ النَّاسُ جُوعًا شَدِيدًا، فَلَمَّا كَانَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ رَكِبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ دَابَّةً لَهُ فَرَأَى فِي رَوْثِهَا شَعِيرًا، فَقَالَ: وَاللهِ لَا أَرْكَبُهَا حَتَّى يَحْسُنَ حَالُ النَّاسِ
